New U12 Players Welcome

New season 2019-20 - new players always welcome!

Welcome to the Fullerians U12s for 2019-20

We support the RFU's Core Values of Rugby: TEAMWORK, RESPECT, ENJOYMENT, DISCIPLINE and SPORTSMANSHIP.

This Squad is for children who turn 12 years old after the beginning of September 2019. Usually, this means secondary school Year 7. The season starts on Sunday 8th September 2019 and will play through to the end of April 2020

In keeping with all Hertfordshire rugby clubs, we play under the RFU's 'New Rules of Play' for Under 12s which is a deliberately child-centric approach to the game. It means introducing children to this great game though a staged approach to learning the skills they will then use for the rest of their playing days (and the social skills and friendships that will help them throughout life). In playing terms it means tackling (carefully coached) and the 'Mini' versions of scrums, rucks and mauls. There are no line-outs. This season uncontested five person scrums (with locks) are introduced for the first time.

At Fullers U12s, we are passionate about what we do, but what we do is not about winning matches at all costs. Our goal is to bring all children into the wonderful world of Mini Rugby, and to allow them to experience the discipline, fellowship, fun and excitement to be had. In this way, a cohesive, happy and (hopefully) successful squad will develop over the long-term. We hope that for all the boys this is the start of a life-long love of rugby and many friendships.

Every child has a place in Mini Rugby.

Please bring boots, a gumshield and a smile on your face.

NEW STARTERS
If you are new to Rugby and interested in joining a club, you are very welcome at Fullerians. We pride ourselves on having fun and warmly integrating new members. Please arrive early and make yourself known to the coaches: they should all be very obvious!

TIMING
The coaches will usually be at the club from 0900hrs. Please arrive in plenty of time to start training promptly at 1000hrs.

We will finish at around 1130hrs, though in keeping with fine rugby traditions (and to support the club) we'd like every session to end with as many of us as possible heading to the clubhouse for a drink and something to eat!

LOCATION
The regular pitch location for us will be the pitch over at Watford Boys Grammar School pitches.

REGISTRATIONS
You will need to register at the clubhouse in the first 3 weeks. This will include payment and completion of the required paperwork including head injury form notice.

You will need to ensure you are registered on the www.fullerians.co.uk website to stay in touch with age group communications. It's a very good way to find out what's going on across the whole club as well as for the U12 team.

Personal RESPONSIBILITIES to the club

As usual at some point during the season we will all be required to volunteer and participate in fundraising, kitchen and car parking duties. Please step forward swiftly and make yourself available to help support the club and the person organising the activity.

Key features of Under 12 New Rules of Play are:

* 12 v 12 players
* Half Pitch (up to 5m lines)
* Unlimited contest for the ball
* Nearest 5 in the scrum and contested strike (but no pushing)
* No line-out
* No kicks for goal
*T he team being scored against have the option to kick or receive
* Mark called anywhere on the pitch
* Size 4 Ball
