Our first fixture against OA's for a few seasons outside of the County festival, saw us arrive at OA's in bright sunshine.
The squad was capped at 20 players and agreed mixed ability morning.
OA's started quickly by utilising the strength they had on the flanks, with their 14 showing some incredible pace down the wings, their heads up play and using their pace they scored 4 without reply.
Showing great teamwork and grittiness, Fullers dug in and started to work the phases and pulled themselves back in to the match, scoring 2 team tries through hard work at the break down (Minihan 2 tries).
OA's continued to flourish by spinning it wide to their speed merchant, and with a very canny and complete player at 10 controlled the back play.
Fullers breakdown and scrum work (15 scrums won 3 against the head, non-lost on our ball) again was great to watch with a breath-taking 18 phases ending with a try for Charlie Cockerill.
Ryan Thiel finished well from a smart spot from 15 Cameron Hart on the blindside, after more hard work from the forwards.
Shout out to Ryan Thiel, Harry Minihan and particularly Jake Wood, who has found a new lease of life at 9 marshalling the forwards.
But the forwards really pushed us on in this game keeping us alive, when in past games the heads might have dropped.
Man of the match – Charlie Cockerell.
But overall a good ‘team’ performance
A good morning rugby, lots of positives and lots of things to work on.....we go again!
