After the torrential rain in the morning the sun shone over the club. With our players pumped and ready to go we prepared ourselves for the game ahead.
Due to low numbers (a problem for almost all U18 teams this season) we played 9 a side with a 5 person scrum. The game started well with an early try from Amelia who successfully converted her own try – one of eleven conversions from her this game. This was quickly followed by Grace’s maiden try for Fullerians. Not wishing to be left out, Imogen quickly scored three, followed by another from Gbemi. To seal the game at half time Imogen quickly slotted over another try.
Bletchley and Olney came back with a try for their team (unconverted). Lois quickly answered by running up the wing to score another for us. Issey added one more, then Gbemi two. Not wishing to score just one try, Grace followed with another (ably set up by Zoe!).
The opposition never stopped trying and never gave up. They made us fight for our tries and were gracious in defeat. We look forward to meeting up with them again.
The opposition voted Amelia as our player of the match – a well deserved honour. Congratulations to all the players. This was a prime example of great teamwork – the forwards excelled in the rucks and scrums, whilst the backs made full use of the space around them to run in the tries.
The score was officially recorded as 47-5
