Local Derby Win for the Furies U14s

Watford made the short journey to Coningesby Drive for this Bucks Invitational League fixture. A proper derby attitude was on display with both teams giving their all throughout.

Watford started strongest with speed and dynamism at the breakdown and they raced into a 10-0 lead. Fullers regrouped and began to move the ball into the backline with more regularity. When rookie gameday captain Lucy went down with injury Emilie T got the opportunity to play in the backs for the first time this season. The forwards continued to get the backs the ball as the half went on and Emilie T ran in two tries, one converted by Ruby. Fullers went into the break winning 12-10.

Ringing the changes at half time Fullers stepped up a gear adding more urgency to their game play. A great multi-phase forward drive saw Mia drive over from close range – try of the day! Fullers continued to apply pressure with Emilie T, back at the more familiar hooker position, broke free for another try after strong defensive pressure. Sophie, playing her first game for Fullers, blitzing the Watford backs from her first moment on the pitch. Emilie T returned the next kick off back for another score which Lily converted. 29-10.

Watford rallied late on reverting to a strong pick and go tactic with two late tries to make the final score 29-20.

Player of the game: Emilie T
