Furies win away against BOLT!

Rain, rain and lots more rain was the backdrop to the return of the Bucks Invitational League for the Furies U14s. The team made the trip to Bletchley to take on the clustered team of Bletchley, Olney and Towcester aka Bolt. Despite the weather and a few experienced players missing Fullers raced into a 10-point leave with tries from Emilie T and Nancy. Kicking was difficult all day and despite the posts and crossbars rattling consistently no conversions were successful.

BOLT hit back with some powerful running from the hooker and no.8, with the hooker powering over from 5 yards out. This was followed by some great scrum half play allowing the outside half to exploit some disorganisation in the defensive line to sprint in for a great try. 10-10.

The Furies, as the rain continued to press down, went back to a more natural offloading game with amazing handling on show despite the slippery conditions. The outside channels opened up as the game went on with some great attacking phases allowing the backs to get more time practising their set moves. Tries from Emilie T (3 on the day), Pluto, Lily, Lucy and Ruby. The final score was 40-10.

Another match and another debutant, Martha, making an impact with strong pick and go’s from scrum half.

Player of the match – Freya, captaining the team for the first time and blitzing rucks all day long.

Great hosts and a great game of rugby, with both teams leaving with big smiles and chocolate.

We go again next week with the visit of neighbours Watford RFC and Datchworth RFC.
