Last weekend saw the Fullerians touch teams out in force.
On Saturday we hosted a mini women’s tournament at the club which saw Fullerians take on two teams from Tring and a team from Old Grammarians. Tring are a relatively new women's touch team and it was amazing to see what great numbers they have recruited to their squad. It was a lot of fun and the Fullerians team came away unbeaten.
On Sunday we traveled over to Tabard for Finals Day of the Mixed Masters League that we participate in. Our group draw for the day saw us take on League winners OAs and also Bishops Stortford. Two losses against two very well-versed teams then saw us compete in the playoffs for the plate against Tabard. A magnificent try line to try line score by Stuart helped us to a comprehensive win and we brought silverware back to the club for the first time!
Even better news was that we had our head coach Simmo back with us on the sidelines after his recent stroke. Just over 6 weeks since he was taken ill it's incredible to have him back with his touch squad!
Open touch rugby sessions will be running over the Summer on a Wednesday evening at 7:15pm at the club – all ages are welcome – kids, parents, friends, family... If you haven’t tried touch before its quite different to its contact big brother – its great fitness and we have a lot of fun. We are particularly keen to try and build up the women’s squad to train and compete locally – come down on a Wednesday and try us out. Starting this Wednesday 30th April – see you there!!
