Showing improvement over the preceding league fixture, the Furies were a force to be reckoned with this past Sunday. Winning the cup match 43-7 against the Windsor Dames, the Furies have moved through to the 3rd round of the Junior Cup, which will take place on the 30th November.
Forward Jess Barnes secured the first points, with a try that could only be likened to a lion diving on its prey. With her points on the board for the team, the floodgates had opened, allowing the Dames only one hard-earned try during the course of the game. The remaining points were taken over by the backs, who appeared to be in a competition of who could cross the try line the most.
Top try scorer of the match was back Misayo Baker. Overall, it was a game that showed how effective expansive rugby can be when all cogs in the machine work together.
With four wins behind them, the team is showing improvement week on week. To the ladies: update Spond so we can continue to build the momentum.
The Furies would also like to congratulate the U-18s and U-16s for their respective wins in their National Girls Cup games, showing that there is a growing force in the women’s and girl’s section at the club.
A special shout out goes to Courtney Lewis for providing scrumptious baked goods post-match.
The team is back in action on the 9th November at home against Chesham (KO 2 PM).
