Fullerians U15s 2026 South Wales Tour

Rhys Evans27 Mar - 16:20

A rugby pilgrimage... The Battle of The Gnoll

Fullerians U15s returned from their South Wales Tour with far more than muddy boots and tired legs.

After arriving at Salt and Fern Cabins on Friday evening, the group quickly settled into tour life, with friendships strengthening and excitement building ahead of a special rugby experience.

Saturday took the squad to the famous The Gnoll, home of Neath RFC and one of Welsh rugby’s most historic venues. Walking into a ground steeped in tradition gave the occasion real significance. An unforgettable moment came before kick-off when Welsh & Lions legend Alun Wyn Jones delivered a pre-match talk. His message about effort, teamwork, and pride in the jersey set the tone perfectly for the day.

Facing Tonna RFC U15s, Fullerians produced a performance that reflected their season development: improved organisation, resilience in defence, and a growing sense of collective responsibility. Staying to watch senior rugby afterwards allowed the players to experience the passion and standards of Welsh club rugby at close quarters and 26 new Neath fans were created.

Sunday shifted focus to team-building at Margam Country Park, where adventure activities and kayaking challenges reinforced the togetherness that has become a hallmark of this group.

More than results, the tour showed a team developing real identity. Players represented the club superbly throughout, and as the everyone returned home on Sunday evening, it was clear the experience had strengthened bonds that will carry forward into next season.

Fullerians RFC thanks Neath RFC and Tonna RFC for their hospitality, Tour sponsors Mad About Design, Franklin Percival Ltd and Vegetarian Express, the coaches and parents for their support, and the players for representing the club with pride.
