All was bright on a sunny November morning in Hampstead Heath, as Fullers took on Hampstead in a League 2 fixture.
Fullers started well and took advantage of Hampstead lack of organisation in defence. Despite being the bigger side physically Hampstead could not bring any continuity to their attacking play, and Fullers had numerous overlaps when they span the ball wide. Too often they failed to make the final pass before contact prevented them from releasing players in space, but overall the standard of play was excellent.
Tries from Joe Page, Jo Moody, Tommy, Fred and Jamie (I think?) saw us home, with two conversions from Eamon and one from Olli. We played well, but missed a large number of overlaps as we took contact rather than let the ball do the work. But our rucking and tackling was far better, and particularly pleasing was when they crossed the line twice only to be held up first by Tommy and then by the pack. Great work.
A good start to the League campaign.
