It was only 27 hours before kick off that the RFU announced all rugby should continue following the passing of her majesty the Queen.
Fullerians keen to carry on from last weekends win started with no less than 11 changes from a week ago, holidays, weddings and a couple of injuries forcing the changes.
This allowed two debutants to take their first bow for the club, Oli Higgins starting at back row 7 having been away at university since leaving the colts captain role 3 seasons ago and Josh Caldwell, son of former captain James, only 18 and a week away from university looking absolutely comfortable all afternoon at number 8.
The game got under way after a perfectly respected minutes silence with captain Ben Matchett lofting the ball high into the sun and Old Habs immediately knocked on raising a cheer from the large beer festival crowd watching on.
It was an infringement from young Caldwell who placed a marker on the opposition flyhalf just to let him know he was there that allowed the visitors to take an early lead from the boot, another penalty a few minutes later saw the kicker pull his second attempt wide as Fullers looked to compose themselves after the quick Old Habs start.
Fullers settled into the game and took control, dominating like they do in the forwards, and some 25 minutes into the game the first tryline action came begging only for a referees whistle to prevent Rich McCabe for his efforts, as the momentum built prop Tom McDougall looked certain to score only for the ball to be knocked on over the line and a minute later McCabe was back over the line this time the try counting, Matchett slotted the conversion nicely.
Old Habs, themselves depleted from last weekend, got straight back in it and some good work from their backs saw them regain the lead with only seven minutes left on the clock to the half. That was more than enough time for flying winger Ryan Lewis to score a great try following some excellent work from Sam Tinsley and Shaun Smith in the centres and it was Tinsley who came up with the third on the stroke of half time breaking through then oppositions defensive line.
Half time 19-10
Fullers started off where they left off this time Old Habs kicking off straight into the arms of Liam Boyd who charged the defence beating 4 of them to gain valuable yardage and a short while Smith got the bonus point try as Old Habs started to look tired but it was them who finished the stronger of the two sides scoring twice in the final twenty minutes the latter being the last play of the game thankfully for Fullers who held on for their second win of the season.
Full time 26-22
