Explosive bonus point win before the fireworks!

There was an explosive encounter at Coningesby Drive before the Cassiobury Park fireworks got under way on Saturday afternoon.

As autumnal as it’s gets with a very wet type of rain and a leafy breeze the players took to the field in darker than desired conditions, Windsor playing Fullerians for the first time in a 1st XV league fixture got the game underway and it took twenty minutes to get the first points of the afternoon on the board when the virile George Harvey collected a decent line out ball from Nathan Mann on the half way line and charged the Windsor defence to cross the line making it easy for Luke Jacobs to add the extras.
Windsor came straight back added some pressure and scored a well worked try just to the right hand side of the post, conversion slotted easily.
It was returning James Maher with a brilliant score with the fullback, getting his second try in as many games, scored when Liam Mann produced some magical footwork and danced through the Windsor back line and unselfishly popped the final pass to allow Maher to dot down, Jacobs missed the conversion.

Half time 12-7

Windsor came out firing in the second half and took the lead for the first time in the game with some good work and a cheeky chip over the Fullers back line followed by an unlucky bounce to allow the winger to score in the corner, conversion excellently pushed over from out wide.

As the battle raged the clock ticked so fast all of a sudden there was only a few minutes left of the game, Windsor penalised on their 22 for not releasing a tackle earnt a penalty, Jacobs kicked the ball which for added drama clipped the inside of the post and luckily went over for the lead 15-14 with 4 minutes to go.

Then a flurry of brilliance from Fullerians, Windsor collapsed and another good line out the ball this time was collected by Rich McCabe and Fullers rumbled over the line for the third try of the afternoon, Jacobs quite excellently converted from far out wide.
Two minutes to go, Fullers sensed the try bonus point was still up for grabs and some brilliant forwards work pushed Windsor back over their own try line for what seemed like several attempts before Matt Bushell crashed over, Jacobs missed the final attempt and play of the game.

A great day for the club with president Clyve Hancock hosting a 100 person lunch with special guest Dean Russell MP in attendance, Dean presented Gary Wall man of the match to George Harvey.

Next week Fullers visit Beaconsfield.
