Ten try feast puts Old Albanians to the sword

Herts Presidents Cup final

Fullerians wrapped up the season with an emphatic win over Old Albanians Romans and win the Herts Presidents Cup. Thy last won the competition in 1984 and this contest was over in the first 30 minutes. Fullers completely dominated their opponents in all aspects of the game from start to finish and OAs had no answer to Fullers power and pace.

The opening score came from centre James Maher who broke through the OAs defence to score under the posts. Fullers scrum was so dominant that No8 Simon Lye scored 4 tries as three of them he controlled at his feet while the scrum was going over the try line. He scored another where he picked up from the base of the scrum and ran in almost unopposed.

A further penalty try was awarded to Fullers as OAs had no answer to Fullers set piece with the scrum juggernaut not stopping for anyone.
Wing Curtis Woodham scored a wonderful try as Fly Half Luke Jacobs kicked through and used his pace to win the race to touch down in the corner.

Flanker George Harvey was also on the score sheet as some lovely off-loading in the tackle broke the OA defence and he ran in for a 38-8 half time score.

In the second half OAs scored a couple more tries but it was Fullers who again produced the better rugby to score three more tries. One from Simon Lye another from Charlie Dollard who found himself in space after centre James Maher used his power to break through the OA defence.

The last try of the match came from full back Cameron Laurenson who ran in under the posts after some wonderful interplay between forwards and backs almost the length of the pitch to round off a great game for Fullerians.

“The guys who played were absolutely magnificent. They produced some lovely rugby and OAs had no answer. It was a great way to end the season on a high.” commented Fullerians Head Coach Rich Hoskins.
