London 1 North
Fullerians played Southend in what was a good performance in the first half. Unfortunately they couldn’t maintain this pressure and fell away in the second.
The home side started well with some good support and pinned Fullers in their own 22. They scored out wide for a deserved 7-0 lead. Fullers rallied back and converted a long range penalty by Harrison Wells as Southend were offside at the ruck.
Southend went ahead again as they caught Fullers napping around the fringes to extend their lead by 12-3. However, this young Fullers team sensed there was something in this game and responded immediately with a try courtesy of centre Charlie Dollard who powered his way over the line.
Just before the break Wells with his kicking boots on converted another penalty to sneak into the lead at 12-13.
In the second half Fullers kicked off and got into good field position. The lineout went wide and Southend capitalised on the error and ran the length of the field to score. They added salt to the wound and scored quickly after as Fullers heads went down.
Fullerians did up the tempo but were just unable to build some momentum as the pass or lineout went wide and the opportunity went missing.
“We played well in the first half and deserved something for our efforts but once again we fell away in the second half and allowed Southend to dominate territory and possession.” commented Fullerians head coach Rich Hoskins.
