Fullerians hosted high fliers Rochford Hundred who have only lost once in the past two seasons. Fullers were right away under the cosh and Rochford were awarded a try even though the winger’s foot was in touch. Fullers surprised their visitors and showed Great Spirit and contained them to one more score until the red card event took place.

Centre Myles Toon was alleged to have elbowed a player and was sent off by the referee in the 35 minute of the game. To add insult to injury the official also sin binned No8 George Harvey for not rolling away in the ruck. Fullers down to 13 and the half hadn’t finished.

Fullers did well but the extra two men on the field allowed space for Rochford to exploit and they scored more tries.

In the second half and back to 14 Fullers started to build some phases together and started to push their visitors into their own 22. Fullers were awarded penalty after penalty but no yellow cards on offer to Rochford for persistent infringements. Fullers went for the try but were held up or missed that last pass.

Rochford ran in more tries and deserved the win but this young Fullers team showed Great Spirit again and continued until the end.

“Rochford are a good team but the red card killed the game. I was proud of the effort the boys put in and the score didn’t reflect on how hard they worked.” commented Fullerians head coach Rich Hoskins.
