Whilst Touch Rugby is a summer sport, no-one told the Weather Gods who delivered a driving, cold rain when Fullers hosted their round of the Masters Touch League on Monday 24th April.
Brave souls from Fullers, Saracens Touch, Finchley & Royston battled it out achieving the following results:
Fullers 1-2 Royston
Saracens 5-3 Finchley
Fullers 6-2 Finchley
Royston 3-3 Saracens
Fullers 3-3 Saracens
Finchley 1-3 Royston
Fullers attack play was exceptional given the conditions with quick, hard drives gaining territory before the ball went wide and our results could have been better had we not turned off at key moments in defence.
Honourable mentions go to Madday and Dave who both made solid debuts for Fullerians. And there has to be an honourable mention to the player from Finchley, who in is beautifully clean white and red hooped shirt, slipped whilst going for the try line on Pitch 4,landing right in the middle of the biggest & muddiest puddle on the pitch. I didn’t laugh (well not too much!).
With two rounds gone Fullerians head the table with 3 wins, one draw and a loss. There is no rest however as the next set of three matches take place on Monday 1st May at Royston.
These events take a lot of organising so our thanks to Neli for the organisation, for Ned and Stuart for refereeing and to Natalie and Charlotte for keeping the bar open & the players lubricated.
Our teams train every Monday night at 7:15 and everyone is welcome to come down and join us!
