Fullerians travelled to Staines to kick off their league campaign in London North West 2. On a beautiful afternoon and the Staines pitch looking immaculate it was going to be a running game.
Fullerians immediately put Staines in their 22 with some good defensive work forcing the knock on. From the subsequent scrum No8 George Harvey picked up and was held short of the line only for scrum half Tom Sherriff to pick up and squeeze his way over.
Almost from the kick off some lovely handling and recycling of the ball found centre Liam Mann in space to run over and score under the posts.
Fullers power was starting to show and using their forwards second row Sam Perry was on hand to crash over from short range. The fourth try and bonus point was completed when George Harvey used good control at the base of the scrum to push Staines over from the 5 metre line.
In the second half Fullers continued to put pressure on the home side as centre Craig Duncan finished off a lovely backs move to score in the corner for a 0-31 lead.
Staines started to get back in the game and used their strong runners to go over for a deserved score. That was that as Fullerians continued to turn the screw and Staines fell off the tackles.
From the lineout in the Staines half some great angles of running and quick recycling of the ball put wing Tom Williams in to score in the corner. Shortly another was added as the dominant Fullers scrum pushed Staines over again but this time scrum half Max Rawlinson was on hand to touch down.
No8 Harvey scored his second as he picked from the base of the scrum to crash over. Hooker Drew Horne rounded the day with the ninth and final try of the match as he sprinted in to outpace the tiring defence.
“It is always nice to get that first league away win and great to get the bonus point. We played some good linking rugby but there is always areas to improve on. We have tough games ahead but we have got off on the right foot.” commented Fullerians head coach Rich Hoskins.

Fullers second team fought their way to a great away win in the Merit table opener. Enfield Ignations had a strong opening few minutes but from them on Fullers were in total control of the match.
The pack out-performed their bigger opponents and were completely dominant at scrum time.
The back row linked up well and created some great openings. The backs worked well together too and had we been more clinical we could have won by a huge margin.
Tries from Simon Raper, Richard McCabe and Simon Wall, with two successful kicks by Peter Simpson ensured a 19-3 win.
Once again the Fullers defence was their strength and as the season progresses it is clear that the two's will be very successful, especially if the unforced errors can be eradicated.
Exciting times ahead.
