Set to the backdrop of the Girls Rugby Fest, which drew in over 200 registered attendees to Fullerians RFC (Coningesby Drive), the Fullerians Furies truly put their heart into the full 80 minutes against Ruislip RFC Women this past Sunday to come away with the win.

Whilst struggling initially to contain a pack dominant opposition and, subsequently, conceding the opening try, the Furies were quickly whipped back into shape by new head coach Charlie White. Remotivated, the team returned for their chance to counter Ruislip's attack. Returning from injury this season was Phoebe Young with the first of the team's six tries plus penalty conversion.

Maggie Brummer, top try scorer of the game with four tries, exhibited what an
athletic danger can be when given a ball and space. Jess Barnes' try in the second half was no less impressive. Assisted by her forwards pod, she showed the beauty of a forwards try when the system works as it should. Both Maggie Brummer and Gaby Selvey topped up the score with their try conversions.

Finishing the match with a second league win under their belt, the Furies proved that they could not only play expansive rugby but could also quite literally sparkle whilst doing so. We are incredibly proud of the team's commitment this season to elevating the team from within the club as well as promoting the growing game of women's rugby overall both on and off pitch.

The team is back in action on the 19th October away against High Wycombe.
