A wet and windy away day to St Albans 2s ends with big win!

The Mens 2XV were pumped up ready to go last weekend, after their previous, victorious, outing.

10mins before the start of the game the referee and the St Albans captain informed us that one of their props had pulled out, and they didn't have a front row replacement!

Cometh the hour and cometh the man!

Up stepped Fullerians 'go-to' veteran Gavin Greenan, who volunteered to play for St Albans, so that the game could go ahead with contested scrums. True rugby spirit, well done Gav.

The lads settled into the game and started to play some of the systems they been working on in training over the last couple of weeks. It was also nice to see the return of Sam Oguz who not lost any of his aggressive defence qualities.

With the wind howling and driving rain the kickers had a hard day so they adapted their tactics to the conditions with short touch kicks and long deep infield kicks. This proved pivotal, as our dominant pack secured plenty of clean ball, and with possession and territory, the tries started to come. And once they started, they did not stop!

Hamish Murray, Alex MacLean and Brandon Fowler all helped themselves to 5 points. Jerad Walsh and Josh Hancock stole a cheeky brace each, and man-of-the-match Edd Baldwin landed himself a hatrick!

There is also a 'mention in dispatches' for Kyle Dixon for putting in a monstrous tackle. One other notable incident saw Brandon Fowler attempt to kick a lose ball, only to actually kick the turf and fall over, much to the pleasure of the away supporters.

Well done lads, let's get ready for next weekend and keep building.
