Fullerians RFC appoints Tom Courtney as their Senior Men’s Head Coach for the 2024/25 season.

Tom is currently the Head Coach at Chesham RFC where he has spent two seasons overseeing both of their senior men’s teams, additionally engaging with the Colts’ pathway where he prioritised the transition and development of the young players into senior rugby.

Tom is a lecturer of Sports Coaching at Oaklands College, where he teaches students how to coach effectively across a range of sports, including rugby. Previous to this, Tom headed Saracens Foundation’s Get Onside project, and has served in the British Army within the Parachute Regiment.

Tom will join Fullers at the beginning of preseason for 2024/25, after completing his contract with Chesham.

Fullerians RFC Chairman, Malcolm Harrison, said “I am delighted that Tom has agreed to join us. He brings with him a great deal of both playing and coaching experience, and I am looking forward to working with Tom as he leads our senior men into the next season".

I would like to thank our current Head Coach, Gavin Jakeman, for the eight years of service that he has dedicated to the club, across various coaching positions. Gavin has positively influenced the rugby lives of countless players across the Colts and Senior Men during his time with the club. Gavin has also overseen considerable change at the Club, not least the Covid seasons. His passion for rugby and Fullerians has itself been infectious, and more recently he has led our Men as they were promoted to Level 6 rugby in 2022.

I know that Gavin and Tom will be working closely together in the coming months to ensure there is a robust and seamless handover between them.
