Dear Fullerian, after five years in role, I have decided that next season, 2025/26, will be my last year as Chairman of the club. Obviously, this is not a decision that I have made lightly. When I step aside, I will have completed six years as Chairman, and I firmly believe that all voluntary appointments should have a finite life. For one person to take on such a role, and then sit in place for decades, is never a healthy thing.
I am confident that the club is both operationally and financially sustainable, and we have strong plans that will enable us to continue to thrive and develop.
I have announced my decision now, so that the club has as much time as possible to find, and elect, my replacement. Between now and June 2026 I hope that we can appoint a Vice Chair, so they have time to work alongside me to ensure a smooth transition for the club.
Being the Chair at Fullerians has been a huge honour and privilege. The role can be challenging, but with the operating model we now have in place it is safe to say that the role is no longer the challenge it once was. We have a superb team in place who are very capable to run the club, both on the field and off it, on a day-to-day and week-by-week basis. The next Chair will be able to build on the great work of my predecessor, Kevin Brind, and the progress that the current committee and I have made together.
For more information on the role please view the attached document Fullerians Club Chair Role Description or contact me at chairman@fullerians.co.uk for an informal discussion.
