U12s Fullerians v Tabard

Match Report Fullerians U12s v Tabard 16th October.

After a good performance against Saracens two weeks ago, the boys faced a tougher task against a large and physical Tabard Team.

The first half started well with the Fullerians team quickly into their stride, but the Tabard defence was strong for the first five minutes. After a period of good pressure the referee called a penalty to Fullerians for two Tabard players going off their feet at the ruck. Ross took a quick tap penalty and the ball went through the quick hands of Tom M and Craig until Alfie was stopped 10 metres from the line , the Fullerians forwards were quicker to the breakdown and Spencer picked up from the base of the ruck and rumbled over to score . 5 -0

Tabard came back well , and made the use of their bigger boys by trying to crash through the centre and round the side of rucks, the Fullerians tackling led by Craig was resolute. After pressure in the Fullerians 22 Craig cleared the ball long and into touch just on the halfway line for a Tabard lineout. Spencer beat his man to the ball and tapped back to Will who threw a linking pass to the backs who again put the ball quickly through hands, Alfie took the ball into contact and after quick ruck ball the passes reached Jamie on the left wing who went over to score unopposed. 10 - 0 HT.

Fullerians started the stronger after the break with quick ball being used well by the backs , but strong Tabard tackling kept Fullerians out , after 4 minutes of the half Tabard were penalised for pulling the scrum half into the ruck about 20 metres out. Ross took a quick tap penalty running to the left, passing to Tom who drew his man well , passed to Will who ran outside his opposing player into the corner for the third try. 15 – 0 .

Tabard responded by going straight towards the Fullerians try line going through some good phases of possession , they crossed the line only to be held up by strong defence from Tom and Craig. At the resulting 5 metre Scrum Fullers took a scrum against the head for Craig to clear long downfield.

Soon Fullerians were on the attack again only to be thwarted by a Tabard high tackle, who were penalised again for not being 10 metres , from the ensuing quick tap penalty, the ball went out to Ashton who crashed through three Tabard tacklers to score Fullerians last try of the game. 20-0.

Tabard came back strongly from another held up try attempt, but this time they won the scrum for their scrum half to pick up and score a consolation try. 20 – 5.
