A great start to the season!

Fullerians U12 squad travelled to Amersham for their first fixture of the year, a round robin festival hosted by Amersham and Chiltern RFC.
Up against some stiff opposition in Old Albanians, Saracens, Beaconsfield and the hosts themselves, the boys knew they had a tough morning ahead.
First up was OA’s and in a tight 1st half with one excellent try from Ollie Fredrickson touching down in the corner Fullers went in ahead at half-time. The second half saw fullers really bring their discipline and core skills to bear with 3 excellent team tries, working the base of the breakdown and running great lines off the halfbacks. Harry Minihan, Ashley Bunn and Jack Watson touching down. Great pressure in defence kept the opponents to nil.
The second game against the hosts was much tighter affair, with both teams showing great application in defence, another strong run from Minihan saw Fullers touch down in the corner to end the half ahead. Much of the same in the second half, with a very fair contest at the breakdown, Fullers finally broke the deadlock with a multiphase try touched down by Jake Wood, again diligent defence kept A+C scoreless.
A long lunch break then out again against Saracens, it seems we lost a little impetus during the long break and also lost some shape, Saracens attacked well but some fine last ditch tackling kept them out in the first half, a fine solo run from Minihan saw us again go in ahead.
The second half was an improved showing, Ollie Fredrickson going over from 5 yards after some impressive ball retention in the loose, we then shipped our first tries of the morning, Saracens going wide both times when we had been drawn into the breakdown. We won the game with a great solo try from Nick Omaghomi .
Fullers knowing they had to improve on the last game took the field against Beaconsfield and immediately took a strangle hold with 3 tries in the first 3 minutes, Ben Hopkins coming alive with some strong running, great lines from Dylan Balchin and excellent pick up and mazy run from Jack Watson. Fullers continued the great work and went in 4-0 up with an excellent team try from Jake Newman . Beaconsfield came out firing in the 2nd half testing Fullerians defence, but found themselves been pushed back with some attacking defence from Fullers. Beaconsfield struggled with continuity under pressure and Fullers turned the ball overs , scoring 2 tries from great defence with Ben Hopkins and Nick Omaghomi touching down . A great final try from Ashley Bunn running in a loose kick putting Fullers 7 ahead. Beaconsfield finished strongly and managed 2 tries before the whistle, but didn’t put a dent on a clean sweep by Fullerians U12. Trophy and winners medals well deserved!
