A's prove they are no pushovers

Hitchin was never going to be an easy game. Last year they gave us a good hiding and the team were keen to show how we have improved. We started well and the physical gauntlet was thrown down; their pack were big and strong but we held our own in contact. a couple of missed tackles and they pounced with trys. The fullers lost their heads a bit and panicked with some wild passing and kicking away possession. Hitchin out rucked us and shoved us around in the scrum. A half time chat settled the team and we matched them all around the park losing by one try. (4 -3)

Game two was a different story; the physicality went up another notch (I mean proper hard!bone crunching tackles) we rucked well not over committing, Finn supplied good ball all game, sniping around the scrums too, Max and Skinner now back on plan smashing up the 9/10 to great effect. Tom Walsh gave no ground getting in the face of their centres and panicking them into fumbles and drops. Harry S with some impressive floor work and wiley mauling, linking up with Monty several times to release him on some sublime runs of power and speed.

Despite some frustrating decisions the boys didn't lose their heads and kept going to the end, Josh Edwards and Higgins impressed with their line speed and there was not one missed tackle. the game ended in a draw.

Each and every player must have been battered and bruised, they deserved a long hot bath. Well done we were proud.

Only one lesson to be learned, Stick to the plan boys!
