Poor defensive display allows HAC easy win
London 1 North League
Fullerians were quite simply a different team who beat Southend the week before. Lacklustre, poor tackling and no want to win in this outing to central London.
Fullers were indeed flat from the beginning and HAC exploited their visitors slow line speed in defence and tackling. It wasn’t long before the home side were up two scores as they shipped and offloaded the ball on the narrow pitch.
Fullerians did try to get into the game but were snuffed out by HAC who simply wanted it more. Four converted tries by half time and deservedly so as Fullers hadn’t barely got out of the changing rooms.
After stern words by head coach Rich Hoskins Fullers upped their game in the second half with score two lovely tries. Connor Head was on hand to chase down a Luke Jacobs grubber over the line. The indefatigable George Harvey found himself in space to run the 20 metres and score under the posts. Dan Evans on hand to kick both conversions.
HAC scored more tries as lack of shape and tackling allowed the home side in for easy tries. Fullers were frustrated and tried to get back in the match but it was all too little too late for the visitors.
“I was disappointed with the performance today as we just didn’t turn up. HAC are a good side and certainly wanted it more and deservedly so. It is a tough league and you have to be ready for every game to survive.
We now turn our attention to the semi-final of the Hertfordshire cup at home to Hertford 2s this weekend” commented Fullerians Head Coach Rich Hoskins.
