15 Fullerians travelled to Basingstoke for a friendly run out against Basingstoke. The team included 3 debutants in Lucy, Edie and Annabelle who all gained valuable experience ahead of the first League fixture next week.
Fullers raced into a early lead following a multiple phase forward drive culminating in a try from Berynne bursting over from close range. Conversion narrowly missed by Lily O.
The first try was quickly followed by a second. Fullerians dominated at the break down allowing the backs some quick ball. Lily O, starting for the first time at 10, broke through running in a fine try from 40 yds, huffing and puffing after a lung bursting run the extra points were narrowly missed.
From this point the opposition changed tactics nullified the dominance Fullers had at the ruck scoring 2 quick tries to bring the score level.
Fullerians became disjointed as new positions were tested out and fatigue set in with 3 additional tries scored by Basingstoke as the match concluded 25-10.
Great TREDS Values on display with many Fullerians taking their turn to pull on the Basingstoke team to get ss many girls playing rugby as possible. Everyone’s a winnner after this game.
Special mentions to Mia playing both in forwards and backs during the match making some amazing tackles and leading the team through her quiet understated example & Pluto, captaining the team for the first time, leading the back line and growing her leadership skills throughout.
