Club Update

Dear Fullerian
I wanted to give you an update on the clubhouse extension. Having gone through the RFUs process with their sized changing rooms the tender prices have come back ranging from £869,000 to £1.1 million. Yes significantly more than our £400,000-£450,000 budget!
So we won’t be doing the extension this summer and have gone back to the RFU to downsize to 2 RFU changings (these are very big) and 4 other changings (currently what we have). They are happy with this format now so we will go back to planning and make some amendments and build next year (we have planning permission until September 2018).
This will of course reduce our costs but then the clubhouse will tick the boxes for us as the social areas (bar, dining, and kitchen areas) will be bigger and make us marketable for other users in the Community.
The changing rooms will also tick the boxes for other sport user’s not just rugby as they will have separate showers in the changing room itself hopefully encouraging others to use more often.
WE HAVE BEEN RAISING MONEY FOR 5 YEARS AND IT HAS BEEN HARD WORK. THIS IS OUR LAST CHANCE (ON OUR CURRENT PLANNING PERMISSION) SO WE NEED TO GET THE JOB DONE.
PLEASE RAISE AS MUCH MONEY OVER THE NEXT 12 MONTHS SO WE CAN ACHIEVE OUR GOAL OF A BIGGER BETTER CLUBHOUSE FOR ALL. IT IS IN TOUCHING DISTANCE.
Talking of other users of the clubhouse we are trying to reignite our ladies team and also a girl’s team. The Fullerian Furies stopped playing about 12 years ago and it would be great to see them playing again.
Two dates for the diary:
Wednesday 26th April 4pm at the club there is a Schools (girls) introduction to rugby run with the RFU and Hertfordshire. Mainly aimed at 12-16 year olds and will run for about an hour.
Sunday 30th April 12.30pm at the club there is an adult ladies session again run with the RFU. This is during the beer festival and after the minis presentations so all are welcome (and any Mums out there who want to give it a go then join in).
Reece Kneafsey is helping to get this off the ground but any volunteers to assist her would be appreciated.
There will be special gifts for any girls or ladies who attend and participate in the session (s)!
From here we will take things forward (depending on interest and numbers) and organise regular sessions. Summer touch will be run from May and on Wednesdays from 7.30pm so all would be welcome (ladies and men).
The beer festival needs a few more volunteers so please contact Gary Wall at steward@fullerians.co.uk if you can help in anyway. Remember it is the 28th-30th April (bank holiday weekend).
We also need beer sponsors. It is £60 per barrel so please get together or sponsor individually as all proceeds go to the club building fund. Contact Gary again at steward@fullerians.co.uk
The end of season ball is on the 6th May and over 200 of you are already coming. Thank you. Would like to see us get to full capacity at 225 so would love another table of 10-12 if you can come and support our great club. We have great auction and raffle prizes this year with food by Sam & Craig, music by More Cowbell, caricatures by Sara-Louise Harper, a photo booth, and of course great company. What more could you want in an evening?

Don’t forget the AGM in early June (date TBC) and also a clean-up day near the end of June (dates TBC)
Thanks again for all your efforts this year and keep supporting our great club.
